The Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire and Immigration Service Board (CDCFIB) has temporarily suspended the ongoing online recruitment process for paramilitary jobs, citing the need to upgrade and optimize the application portal for better user experience and transparency.

In an official statement released on Thursday, the Board’s Secretary, retired Major General Abdulmalik Jubril, announced that the suspension will remain in effect until July 21. According to him, the decision was made to enhance the performance of the recruitment platform and ensure it can accommodate the large volume of applicants without technical glitches.

Jubril emphasized that the move is aimed at guaranteeing a fair, seamless, and transparent recruitment process for all interested candidates. He acknowledged the overwhelming interest shown by thousands of Nigerian youths eager to serve the nation through key paramilitary agencies and reassured them of the government’s commitment to a credible selection exercise.

The recruitment, which was initially scheduled to commence on July 2 before being shifted to July 14, involves multiple paramilitary organizations under the Board’s supervision. These include the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), the Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS), the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), and the Federal Fire Service (FFS).

The CDCFIB urged applicants to remain patient and vigilant, assuring that a more efficient and robust system will be in place by the new resumption date. With unemployment levels still a major concern across the country, the recruitment drive has attracted massive attention, sparking conversations on social media and within local communities.

Analysts say this recruitment round is one of the most anticipated in recent years, with thousands of slots up for grabs across the four major paramilitary agencies. The Board has reiterated its zero-tolerance stance on favoritism or backdoor admissions, promising that only qualified candidates will be selected based on merit.
