The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Delta State has dismissed as “completely fake, unfounded, and a deliberate fabrication” a report alleging Governor Sheriff Oborevwori is in secret negotiations to return to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) ahead of the 2027 general elections.
In a press release issued by the State Publicity Secretary, Valentine Onojeghuo Esq., the APC, under the chairmanship of Elder Omeni Sobotie, described the report as “laughable desperation” by “political merchants of lies” intimidated by the Governor’s “soaring popularity, sterling performance, and entrenched grassroots support.”
“It is important to clarify for the benefit of the general public that Governor Sheriff Oborevwori has not at any time entered into any form of negotiation, secret or open, with Nyesom Wike or any PDP figure to return to their crisis-ridden Party,” the statement asserted. The party stressed that the Governor “remains focused, committed and resolute in his decision to align with the APC to deliver transformative leadership and progressive governance to the people of Delta State.”

The APC further highlighted the “puerile” nature of the rumour, questioning why a sitting Governor enjoying the confidence of his people and the APC leadership would consider returning to a PDP “engulfed in leadership tussles, credibility crises and mass defections nationwide.”
The party views the publication as part of “coordinated propaganda and blackmail tactics by desperate political actors who are jittery and clearly aware that they stand no chance against Governor Sheriff Oborevwori in 2027.”
“For the avoidance of doubt, we state that Governor Sheriff Oborevwori remains a committed, loyal and active member of the APC. There is no negotiation or plan whatsoever for him to return to the PDP now or at any time in the foreseeable future,” the release concluded, urging Deltans to “disregard this fake report in its entirety as nonsensical garbage.”
