In a strategic move aimed at revitalizing public service delivery and driving his administration’s environmental and development initiatives, Kano State Governor, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, has approved the redeployment of several top government officials overseeing critical agencies in the state.
The shake-up, announced in an official statement by the governor’s spokesperson, Sanusi Bature, is part of a broader effort to enhance institutional efficiency and accelerate the pace of sustainable reforms across Kano.
As part of the changes, Dr. Muhammad S. Khalil has been redeployed from his role at the Watershed, Erosion, and Climate Change Management Agency (WECCMA) to assume duties as the Acting Managing Director of the Refuse Management and Sanitation Board (REMASAB). His reassignment is seen as a strategic move to strengthen sanitation and waste management in the state capital and beyond.
In another key posting, Lamin Mukhtar Hassan, who previously served as Deputy Managing Director at REMASAB, will now serve as Deputy Managing Director of the Sustainable Kano Project. His new role is expected to further Governor Yusuf’s vision for a greener, more climate-resilient Kano.

All redeployments are effective immediately and form part of Governor Yusuf’s commitment to positioning the right talents in strategic roles to actualize his administration’s development agenda.
This bold reshuffle reinforces the governor’s focus on environmental sustainability, urban renewal, and effective resource management. Analysts say it also underscores a growing urgency within the Kano State Government to deliver measurable results amid mounting public expectations.
Governor Yusuf’s latest appointments are already being seen as a signal of his determination to ensure that government institutions are not only staffed with capable hands but are fully aligned with the goals of a cleaner, greener, and more prosperous Kano.
