World number one Jannik Sinner achieved a straight-sets victory over 24-time Grand Slam champion Novak Djokovic in the semi-finals of Wimbledon 2025.

Sinner’s impressive performance sets the stage for a highly anticipated final against defending champion Carlos Alcaraz on Sunday.

This marks Sinner’s fourth consecutive appearance in a Grand Slam final and his first at the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club, following a decisive 6-3, 6-3, 6-4 win on Centre Court on Friday.

At 23 years old, Sinner is eager to seek redemption after his heartbreaking loss to Alcaraz in the French Open final last month, where he missed three championship points.

Sinner and Alcaraz have emerged as the dominant forces in men’s tennis, having won the last six major tournaments between them.

Djokovic, a seven-time champion, was unable to secure a chance for a record 25th Grand Slam title due to his defeat on a scorching Centre Court.

This loss marks the first time since 2017 that he has not reached the Wimbledon final, and he falls short in his pursuit of matching Roger Federer’s record of eight Wimbledon titles.

“It’s a tournament I always watched on television when I was young, and I never imagined I would play here in the finals, so it was amazing,” Sinner said.

“I served very well today and felt great on the court; my movement was excellent. In the third set, I noticed he was a bit injured. He was in a tough spot, but I focused on playing my best tennis.”

Sinner, who was still wearing a white protective sleeve due to an elbow injury sustained during a fall in his fourth-round match against Grigor Dimitrov, faced Djokovic, who had fitness concerns after a fall in his quarterfinal match against Flavio Cobolli.

Sinner broke Djokovic in the third game, delivering a series of precise groundstrokes that wore down the sixth seed.

The 38-year-old Djokovic struggled to cope with the pressure and faltered in the ninth game, allowing Sinner to convert his third set point.

Sinner maintained his momentum at the start of the second set, breaking Djokovic again to take a 2-0 lead.

Although Djokovic managed to hold serve for 3-1, the crowd’s cheers were not enough to shift the tide in his favor.

Sinner quickly extended his lead to 5-2, and despite Djokovic saving a set point on his serve, Sinner closed out the set in just 69 minutes.

Between sets, Djokovic received treatment for an injury to the upper part of his left leg, which he appeared to have aggravated during his previous match.
