Troops of 6 Brigade, Nigerian Army, in collaboration with Sector 3 of Operation Whirl Stroke (OPWS), have raided multiple bandit hideouts and disrupted a meeting reportedly convened by a notorious bandit leader in southern Taraba State.

The operation, carried out on 5 July 2025, targeted remote areas in Wukari Local Government Area, believed to be strongholds of Liamdoo Douglas Adekpe, also known as Bajor.

In a statement issued in Jalingo on Monday, Acting Assistant Director of Army Public Relations, Captain Olubodunde Oni, said the raid was based on credible intelligence.

“Acting on intelligence, the troops launched a swift offensive, forcing the criminals to flee and abandon several items,” the statement read.

The operation led to the destruction of camps allegedly used for planning attacks and storing weapons. Troops also recovered five operational motorcycles suspected to have been used by the bandits for raids and swift movement.

Commander of 6 Brigade and Sector 3 OPWS, Brigadier General Kingsley Chidiebere Uwa, confirmed that Bajor and his associates narrowly escaped but are currently being tracked by security forces.

He assured residents of the Army’s commitment to dismantling criminal networks threatening peace in Taraba State and neighbouring regions.

Brigadier General Uwa urged locals to continue providing timely information to security agencies to support ongoing efforts, adding that the Brigade remains committed to using both kinetic and non-kinetic strategies to secure lasting peace.

He described the raid as part of a broader clearance operation aimed at flushing out criminal elements across the state.
