The Adamawa State Executive Council has approved over N338 million as compensation for landowners affected by the acquisition of land for a new building materials market along Numan Road in Yola.

The decision was announced on Thursday by the Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Iliya James, while briefing journalists on the outcome of the council meeting chaired by Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri at the Government House, Yola.

James also disclosed that the council has approved more than N280 million for the digitization of the Office of the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), including the Cabinet Affairs Office and the Political Department.

The project, awarded to Albashir Nigeria Limited, aims to align government operations with global e-governance standards.

Speaking on the market relocation, the Commissioner for Land and Survey, Mr. Joab Sahma, said the building materials market would move from its current location on Hospital Road to the new site on Yola-Numan Road.

He explained that the relocation is part of the administration’s urban renewal initiative designed to improve both the aesthetic and functional landscape of the state capital.

In his remarks, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Information and Communication Technology (ICT), Dr. Ahmed Hammajam, noted that the digitization effort would streamline operations and modernize administrative processes across key government offices.
