The Court of Appeal in Abuja has dismissed two appeals filed by Senate President Godswill Akpabio, regarding the suit filed by Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan over her suspension at the federal high court.
In a unanimous ruling by Justices Hamma Barka, Adebukunola Banjoko, and Okon Abang, the appellate court struck down the motions dated March 20 and March 25, 2025, after a formal request to withdraw them was made.
The court also awarded ₦100,000 in costs to Sen. Akpoti-Uduaghan, the first respondent, and ordered the deletion of appeal No: CA/ABJ/PRE/ROA/CV/395M/2025.

Akpabio had requested several reliefs from the appellate court, including an order extending the time for him to seek permission to appeal the Federal High Court’s decision in suit No: FHC/ABJ/CS/384/2025, which was ruled on by Justice Obiora Egwuatu on March 10, 2025.
Other reliefs sought by the Senate president are an order granting permission to appeal the high court’s decision in the same case, an order extending the time for him to file a notice of appeal against the judgment and an order to stay further proceedings in the matter until his appeal is resolved.
However, with the withdrawal and subsequent dismissal of the motions, the Senate president’s requests are effectively rendered void at this point.
This ruling represents a significant legal victory for Sen. Akpoti-Uduaghan in her ongoing legal dispute regarding her contentious suspension.
