A game-changing freelance marketplace built exclusively for Nigerian digital professionals, Hamzry, has officially launched, aiming to revolutionize how Nigerian freelancers access global clients and earn online. Already boasting over 1,800 registered freelancers, the platform is positioning itself as Nigeria’s homegrown answer to global freelance giants like Upwork and Fiverr.
Founded by Nanle Joel and Prince Agala, two Nigerian tech entrepreneurs who began their own freelance journeys as university students in Turkey, Hamzry was inspired by the challenges Nigerian freelancers face on foreign platforms, low visibility, lack of early reviews, and payment restrictions. The idea for Hamzry emerged in 2021 during the COVID-19 lockdown, when many Nigerian youths turned to remote work in the wake of mass job losses.
According to the co-founder, Nanle Joel, “Nigerian freelancers have always struggled to compete on saturated global platforms. They’re buried under thousands of listings, battling for visibility, and face major issues with getting paid. Hamzry changes all that. It’s built to prioritize Nigerian talent and streamline global access to their skills.”

Hamzry enables freelancers to list services across key digital categories including writing, graphic design, web and app development, voiceovers, video editing, AI services, and virtual assistance. What truly sets Hamzry apart is its seamless payment system, which allows Nigerian freelancers to receive payments directly into their local bank accounts, bypassing limitations associated with foreign platforms that rely on PayPal, an option still largely unavailable in Nigeria.
Beyond connecting Nigerian freelancers to global clients, Hamzry is also solving a domestic market gap. With over 39.6 million MSMEs in Nigeria, many local businesses struggle to find trustworthy professionals for digital services. Hamzry provides a naira-based, easy-to-use alternative for local entrepreneurs in need of design, tech, writing, and marketing services, essentially creating a digital bridge between Nigerian businesses and Nigeria’s booming creative workforce.
Co-founder Prince Agala emphasized the platform’s broader mission: “We’re not just another freelance site. We’re here to empower Nigerian youth, serve the needs of local businesses, and showcase Nigerian excellence to the world.”
With ambitious plans to create over 100,000 jobs in the next three years, Hamzry is setting its sights on becoming Africa’s leading freelance platform and a key player in the multi-trillion-dollar global gig economy.
