Members of the defunct All Nigeria Peoples Party (ANPP) under the aegis of the ANPP Legacy Forum have described President Bola Tinubu’s reforms after two years in office as “a huge success.”

National Coordinator of the forum, Prof. Vitalis Ajumbe, in a statement he issued in Abuja on Tuesday, commended President Tinubu for his commitment, resilience, and unwavering dedication to the economic revival and development of the country.

Prof. Ajumbe said the Tinubu administration has demonstrated vision and decisiveness in confronting longstanding structural challenges that have plagued the nation’s economy, security architecture, and governance.

“Despite inheriting a burdensome debt profile and a fragile economic landscape, President Tinubu’s policies have already begun to yield meaningful results.

“Notably, the reduction of Nigeria’s total public debt from $108.2 billion to $94.2 billion under his administration is a commendable achievement.

“The prompt repayment of Nigeria’s debt to the International Monetary Fund (IMF) further underscores the administration’s commitment to fiscal responsibility and macroeconomic stability,” the forum’s national coordinator said.

Prof. Ajumbe pointed out that under the stewardship of the Central Bank Governor, Mr. Olayemi Cardoso, the apex bank has taken commendable steps to stabilize Nigeria’s monetary policy.

He said the CBN’s ongoing efforts to control inflation, manage the foreign exchange market more transparently, and boost investor confidence have begun to restore credibility to the Nigerian economy.

“The bold actions taken against financial irregularities, such as the clampdown on cryptocurrency platforms that threatened national security and fiscal health, were timely and effective.

“The increase in capital inflows by over 66 percent and steady Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) inflows are a testament to the president’s international engagements and investor-friendly policies.

“His strategic diplomatic visits and participation in global investment forums are gradually restoring Nigeria’s image as a viable investment destination,” he added.

The forum said infrastructure development across all sectors remains one of the high points of Tinubu administration.

It asserted that the simultaneous execution of landmark projects such as the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway, the Sokoto-Badagry Expressway, the Abuja-Kaduna-Kano Highway, and the revitalization of the East-West Road, show a government focused on building lasting development.

These projects, the forum argued, will enhance connectivity, improve trade, and boost regional integration.

Also, Prof. Ajumbe enumerated achievements in the power sector, the social development programmes of the administration, such as the disbursement of ₦32.8 billion as student loans to nearly 200,000 students, the payment of wage arrears and the implementation of a new minimum wage show the government as one that listens and acts in good faith to support the Nigerian workforce.

In the area of security, the national coordinator said military operations are now better coordinated, and collaboration among security agencies has seen improved outcomes in reducing insurgency, banditry, and other threats.

“Unlike in the past, where terrorists operated with impunity, we are now witnessing arrests, trials, and convictions.

“The return of relative peace to key flashpoints across the country, including Kaduna and parts of the North West, demonstrate the government’s seriousness in securing lives and property.

“Furthermore, the Tinubu administration’s decision to empower sub-national governments by improving the flow of resources to states has strengthened federalism and enhanced local development initiatives.

“The increased monthly revenue allocations to states and local governments have provided the capacity for grassroots development.

“Although challenges remain in the areas of cost of living, exchange rate volatility, and poverty, the foundation laid in the first two years offers a platform for consolidation and growth.

“We believe the next phase of the administration will focus on deepening reforms and delivering stronger socio-economic dividends to Nigerians.

“We, the former members of the ANPP, remain steadfast in our support of President Tinubu’s ‘Renewed Hope Agenda’ and urge all Nigerians to rally around this administration in the patriotic mission to build a united, prosperous, and secure nation,” Prof. Ajumbe stated.
