Nigeria has announced the results of its first-ever National Digital Trade Survey. This announcement took place during the inaugural African Continental Free Trade Area Digital Trade Forum in Lusaka, Zambia on Thursday.
Acccording to the announcement, the supporter of digital trade within the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA), Nigeria, under President Bola Tinubu’s leadership, is dedicated to developing a digital economy that includes everyone and competes on a global scale.
Earlier this year, Jumoke Oduwole, the Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment, encouraged public participation in the survey by inviting submissions and engaging with various stakeholders.
The survey has produced Africa’s first Digital Services Directory, which offers valuable insights into Nigeria’s rapidly growing digital economy and its potential to expand across the continent.

Through this national survey, we’ve shown that Nigeria is not just joining Africa’s digital movement—we are playing a key role in shaping it.”
The goal of the survey was to identify Nigeria’s digital service providers, highlight important markets within Africa, guide national policy, and strengthen Nigeria’s position in the implementation of the AfCFTA’s Digital Trade Protocol.
