The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has showcased new digital tools designed to strengthen election management in Nigeria.
INEC Chairman, Prof. Mahmood Yakubu, emphasised the strategic importance of these technological tools at a retreat held in Lagos.
“These mobile applications represent our commitment to leveraging technology for transparent and efficient elections. They will transform everything from voter registration to results collation,” he said.
The comprehensive package of applications demonstrated includes:
1. **CROMS** – Collation & Returning Officers Management System
2. **ERMS** – Election Results Management System
3. **VETS** – Virtual Election Training System
4. **PFRAS** – Political Party Financial Reporting System
5. **EMSC Dashboard** – Election Monitoring & Support Center
6. **EFLOC** – Electoral Facility Locator

“By possessing these applications, the commission has the autonomy to adapt and refine them as electoral demands change, ensuring long-term relevance and reducing reliance on third-party providers.
“The applications support essential electoral operations such as results management, the deployment of collation and returning officers management system, election results management system, virtual election training system, political party financial reporting system, election monitoring and support center, and electoral facility locator.
“Automating these processes helps reduce human error, save time, and enhance the overall credibility and effectiveness of election management,” he said.
Additionally, he added that the integration of the technological tools into INEC’s cloud infrastructure enhances data security and facilitates better coordination among departments.
“The collaborative input from user departments in shaping and refining these tools ensures they remain functional, accessible, and tailored to meet the commission’s operational needs,” Prof. M.J. Kuna added.
