The Plateau State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has arrested a suspect with firearms at a church in Bokkos Local Government Area.
The arrest, which occurred around 8:30 a.m. on Sunday during a routine patrol by NSCDC operatives, comes amid heightened security concerns following a recent wave of deadly attacks in the region.
Command spokesperson, ASP NR Rimvyok, who confirmed the development to Daily Trust in a phone conversation on Monday, said investigations into the matter are still ongoing.

“At the moment, there is nothing to report yet as investigations are still ongoing. So, we don’t have anything to report yet, until after the investigation,” Rimvyok stated. He also confirmed that the suspect was apprehended by NSCDC personnel.
The suspect has since been transferred to the NSCDC headquarters in Jos, the state capital, for further investigation.
The arrest follows a spate of violent attacks in Bokkos and Bassa LGAs, where five communities were assaulted between March 28 and April 2, leaving over 70 people dead. The incidents have raised concerns over the deteriorating security situation in parts of Plateau State.
