The Enhwe Clan Development Union, under the leadership of Dr. Emmanuel Okworigho, held its 2025 Annual General Conference themed “Unity and Sustainable Peace” at the Enhwe Civic Centre. The high-powered gathering attracted community stakeholders and aimed to foster development, promote unity, and address pressing issues confronting the clan.

In what many described as a defining moment for Enhwe Kingdom, key matters deliberated included the Enhwe Modern Hospital project, constitution review, rising insecurity, illegal land sales, unresolved court cases, revenue generation strategies, and the incomplete water project—all central to the community’s path toward sustainable progress.

Dr. Okworigho, while addressing attendees, emphasized the importance of strategic development and collective responsibility. He disclosed that discussions around the Enhwe Modern Hospital were deferred due to the absence of the former PG and project chairman, Chief Mike Ovie Ogodo, who is currently outside the country. However, he assured that a fundraising launch for the hospital would be announced soon to galvanize support for the long-awaited health facility.

Lamenting post-election litigations, Dr. Okworigho criticized those who took the community to court and refused to withdraw their cases, accusing them of being part of a group involved in unauthorized land sales—a practice he described as harmful and disrespectful to the collective interest of Enhwe people.

On the stalled water project, he revealed that the community had engaged the Delta State Ministry of Water Resources in Asaba and had written officially to express concern over the project’s abandonment. According to the Ministry, the contractor handling the project has not yet been paid, but once mobilized, he is expected to return and complete the work.

Nonetheless, he expressed optimism that with renewed focus and unity, the community would overcome these obstacles.

He announced that the constitution review committee had submitted its report and that a new team would be constituted to vet the proposed amendments, ensuring that all grey areas are properly addressed. He assured the community that the reviewed constitution would be presented and debated at the next general conference.

Speaking on security, he urged the community to remain vigilant amid growing threats from violent Fulani herdsmen operating across the country. He stressed that security was a collective duty and advised residents to report any suspicious activities or unfamiliar faces within the town or on farmlands to the local security team.

Dr. Okworigho commended the dedication of the home branch and other external branches of the union, appreciating their efforts and presence at the conference despite busy schedules.

Declaring the conference open, His Royal Majesty, Engr. Anthony Onomuefe Efekodha Ejuzi II, the Ovie of Enhwe Kingdom, represented at the event, called on the community to embrace peace and unity. He prayed for a successful conference and safe travels for all participants returning to their destinations.

As Enhwe looks forward to executing its development agenda, this year’s conference has set the tone for a renewed vision—anchored on unity, transparency, and inclusive growth for the future of the kingdom.
