An All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftain, Eze Chukwuemeka Eze, has advised the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, to steer clear of Bayelsa State’s politics.

Eze, in a statement issued on Monday, cautioned Wike against interpreting the Ijaw people’s calm demeanour as a sign of docility, stressing that the Ijaws should not be provoked.

He expressed concern over what he described as Wike’s alleged attempts to interfere in Bayelsa’s political landscape, warning that such actions could destabilise the state and distract the government of Governor Douye Diri.

“The Ijaw people are not weak,” Eze stated. “Governor Diri cannot stand aloof and watch Wike perpetrate dastardly acts in Bayelsa State.”

The APC stalwart, who previously served in the party’s Legacy Media Team, commended Gov. Diri for his vigilance in averting what he described as Wike’s “evil and anti-democratic plot” to introduce political tension and violence into the state.

“Wike is busy plotting to replicate [the suspension of Gov. Fubara, his deputy and lawmakers by President Bola Tinubu, in Bayelsa State,” Eze alleged.

He condemned any attempt to bring political unrest into the state, claiming such plans were aimed at forcing a state of emergency.

“So, plotting to import ground-swelling violence to Bayelsa, envisaging a declaration of another infamous state of emergency, is a ruse, that can never happen in the state.

“I urge Wike to bury the thought of fueling crisis in the Bayelsa PDP, with the hope of allowing the attendant consequences to snowball into a state-wide political violence.

“I caution Wike to desist from his infantile thinking and hallucination, and wake up to the realisation that no number of devious plots would make President Tinubu, to declare a state of emergency in Bayelsa State.

“With the ceaseless and senseless killings in the Plateau, Edo, Zamfara and other states, Wike ought to have advised Tinubu to declare a state of emergency in Nigeria to justify his illegal declaration of emergency in Rivers State,” the APC added.

Eze further argued that Tinubu should not be misled into seeing Gov. Diri’s opposition to a pro-Tinubu and Wike rally in Bayelsa, and the launch of a political group called The New Associates, as a challenge to the presidency.

“President Tinubu should not be arm twisted to believe that Gov. Diri’s opposition to the hosting of the mega rally in support of him and Wike as well as the inauguration of a political group, The New Associates in Bayelsa, is an affront on Tinubu’s political interest, because that has been the tactics of Wike, just to curry favour from the Presidency.

“Wike knows that Bayelsa is the cradle of the Ijaw nation. Their peaceful nature should not be mistaken for weakness, as no individual in the name of playing dirty and do or die politics, has monopoly of violence or brain box of inciting unrest,” he said.

Nigeria attracts $9.88bn investment commitments in 2025 as NIPC projects create Over 5,000 jobs Obah Sylva Nigeria recorded investment commitments estimated at about 9.88 billion dollars in 2025, with projects facilitated by the Nigerian Investment Promotion Commission generating more than 5,000 direct jobs across key sectors of the economy, in a development widely seen as a sign of renewed investor confidence. The figures were disclosed by the Deputy Director of the Department of Investment Promotion at the NIPC, Emmanuel Longza, in a document presented during a media parley with journalists in Abuja. According to the document, the investment commitments cut across agriculture, manufacturing, mining and infrastructure. They include 150 million dollars from Chinese-backed projects in Katsina State, 500 million dollars for the Oyo Integrated Agricultural Park, a 150 million dollar Green Mining Fund, over 5.2 billion dollars generated from the Bauchi Investment Summit, about 331 million dollars from the Katsina Investment Summit, roughly 50 million dollars from AfCFTA deal-room negotiations, a 2.5 billion dollar investment interest by global meat processor JBS in livestock, and the one billion dollar Green Imperative agricultural mechanisation programme. The report noted that the figures exclude a mix of firm commitments, memoranda of understanding, announced investments and expressions of interest, which together amount to an estimated 11.5 billion dollars in potential investment value from between 120 and 135 investment leads. Speaking at the event, the Executive Secretary and Chief Executive Officer of the NIPC, Mrs. Aisha Rimi, said the investments translated into 5,432 jobs created in the second and third quarters of 2025. She said the jobs were largely in manufacturing, information and communication technology, agro-processing, renewable energy and other productive sectors of the economy. Rimi, who was represented by the Director of Strategic Services, Abubakar Yerima, explained that the jobs were supported through the Pioneer Status Incentive scheme, adding that the Commission is preparing to transition to the Economic Development Incentive framework by January 2026. She also highlighted improvements in Nigeria’s ease of doing business, noting that the One-Stop Investment Centre now processes business registrations within 48 hours, handles thousands of investor enquiries and has facilitated the incorporation of nearly 100 companies, alongside faster visa and permit approvals. According to Rimi, the Commission has expanded global investment engagements with Brazil, Sweden, BRICS partners and Japan, while investor interest continues to grow in the dairy and livestock value chain in line with the National Livestock Transformation Plan. Looking ahead, she said the NIPC plans to deepen digital transformation, strengthen competitiveness at the subnational level and enhance investor aftercare, with the goal of converting investment interest into bankable projects that create jobs, boost government revenue and support sustainable economic growth.
