The Kano state governor Alhaji Abba Yusuf, has announced a donation of an undisclosed amount and food items to Torankawa families in Bankure Local Government Area of the state, a village where majority of the16 murdered hunters in Uromi community in Edo State are from .

The victims were said to be travelling from Port-Harcort to Kano for the Sallah celebration last week, before they were attacked by a villante group who allegedly claimed they were kidnappers.

The governor alongside his counterpart from Edo State, Monday Okpebholo, announced the donation on Monday, when they visited the village.

He said his government will support them with food items and some funds to be able to feed the people, noting that they would come up with appropriate modalities to help the families of the deceased.

Gov. Yusuf assured the people that the state government would not sit down and watch its people being murdered, but would collaborates with the Edo State governor as well as the security agencies to ensure such incidents never happen again.

He noted that a high-powered delegation constituted by the state under the leadership of his deputy will leave for Edo State on Wednesday, to commiserate with the Hausa community in the state.

Gov. Yusuf however, urged residents to be patient and prayed for the soul of the deceased to rest in peace.

Gov. Okpebholo in his remarks called for calm, saying God knows best of every situation, promising that, justice will prevail as 14 people have so far been arrested.

Meanwhile the governor’s entourage were welcomed by peaceful protesters, who carried placards with various inscriptions like: “Hunting is business, not a crime” “Justice for hunters, let justice prevail,” “Our people have life to live,” “Hunters are not criminals, we need justice,” among others.
