Troops from the 3 Division and Operation SAFE HAVEN are actively engaged in Operation LAFIYAN JAMA’A, aimed at neutralizing criminal elements in Plateau and Kaduna states.
This was announced by the Operation’s Media Information Officer,Major Samson Nantio Zhakom, on March 13 2025 via its official X (Formally Twitter handle).
He said that on the 12th March 2025, they carried out offensive operations around Kuru and Turu in Jos South, resulting in the elimination of two kidnappers who were armed with 18 rounds of 7.62 mm (Special) and 9 rounds of 5.56 x 45 mm ammunition.
According to him, In the same timeframe, troops established checkpoints along the Bokkos – Bot – Mangu road in Bokkos LGA, acting on credible intelligence regarding arms movement.
“During this operation, they apprehended a notorious gunrunner named Mr. Sengi David, who is 21 years old and from Kopal Village. He was found in possession of an AK-47 magazine and 48 rounds of 7.62 mm (Special) ammunition” He said.

Additionally, on March 11, a sting operation in Jema’a LGA of Kaduna State led to the arrest of another criminal, Mr. Blessed Paul, a 22-year-old wanted for kidnapping and gunrunning. He was lured with the promise of selling an AK-47 rifle and arrested while in possession of the firearm and ammunition.
Zhakom also said that, on March 12, troops also conducted rescue operations near Josho Village in Daffo District, successfully freeing two female victims, aged 11 and 12, who were previously abducted by kidnappers. The kidnappers fled upon the troops’ arrival, and efforts are ongoing to track them down.
He affirmed that the 3rd Division and Operation SAFE HAVEN remain committed to their mission and encourage the public to provide any information that could assist in their operations.
