The Delta State Head of Service, Mr. Reginald Bayoko has bid farewell to six retired permanent secretaries, honouring their remarkable careers and invaluable contributions to the state’s civil service.

In a heartfelt tribute by the head of service at a valedictory session held in honour of the six retirees, Bayoko praised the retired bureaucrats for their transformative impact on the state’s governance and development, adding that their wealth of knowledge remained a beacon for all who serve.

The retirees, who were celebrated for their dedication, resilience, and commitment to excellence, include Puegeren Aghogho Gladys, Ministry of Lands and Surveys, Nwanze Anastasia Ngozi, Directorate of Local Government Affairs, and Enwa Joy, Accountant General and Permanent Secretary.

Others are Ministry of Trade and Investments, Ojeblenu Patrick, office of the head of service and Ndobu Evelyn Ifeoma, Drug Revolving Fund.

“Today, we stand at the intersection of legacy and transition, celebrating the distinguished careers of some of our finest minds—leaders whose dedication, resilience, and unwavering commitment to excellence have left indelible marks on the civil service landscape of our great state,” Bayoko said.

Describing the retiring permanent secretaries as individuals who did not just occupy offices, but transformed them, Mr. Bayoko thanked the retirees for using their influence to shape policies, strengthen institutions, and uplift communities.

“As we bid farewell to these esteemed public servants, let us not merely count their years in office, but measure the impact of their work, the reforms they championed, the teams they mentored, and the standards they set.

“In their honour, we celebrate not just careers but a legacy of excellence—a blueprint for those who will walk in their footsteps,” the head of service stated.

While saying that retirement was not the end, Bayoko noted that it was merely the beginning of a new chapter, where wisdom is shared in mentorship, experience passed down like a treasured heirloom, and where leisure is finally deserved.

He told those in service that the exit of the six permanent secretaries from active service should be a reminder that positions were temporary, but impact eternal.

“It is not the length of time we spend in service that defines us, but the depth of change we bring,” he concluded.

Earlier, the Chairman of Welfare, College of Permanent Secretaries, Dr. Ngozi Mogbolu and other serving permanent secretaries in their various remarks, lauded the retirees for their invaluable contributions to the growth of the service.

The retirees who took turns to speak, shared some of their experiences while in service, just as they appreciated the head of service and their former colleagues for their incredible support.
