The Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, has ordered an immediate and thorough investigation into allegations of criminal activities at the Okere Correctional Centre in Warri, Delta State.
The announcement was made through a statement signed by Babatunde Alao, Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to the minister of interior.
The directive follows media reports detailing alleged misconduct within the Okere correctional centre.
In a strong statement, the minister condemned the reported infractions and warned that any officer found guilty of wrongdoing would face severe consequences.
“I will not allow indiscipline to fester under my nose. Any officer found wanting will face the full weight of the law. The leadership of the Nigerian Correctional Service must provide explanations,” Tunji-Ojo declared.

Reaffirming his commitment to transparency and accountability in Nigeria’s correctional system, the minister assured that the government remains dedicated to upholding the highest standards of integrity in the administration of justice.
“These allegations are serious, and we will not tolerate any form of misconduct within our correctional facilities,” he added.
He further urged members of the public to come forward with any relevant information that could aid the investigation.
