The All Progressives Congress (APC) has said the 25 years reign of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Bayelsa State is a failure because the people were subjected to draconian policies that have continued to limit their personal growth, as well as the even spread of development.

Ebiere Juliana Akpobasa, APC Woman Leader in Bayelsa State said Tuesday at the party’s secretariat in Yenagoa  after the maiden prayer meeting which attracted women from all the eight local government areas in the state.

She posited that PDP leaders have continued to lead the state as their private business, and owing to this misplaced priority the people of the state have continued to suffer untold hardships amidst plenty.

Akpobasa averred that beyond the misplaced priority, the PDP government was also engaged in deceit as most of the project commissioned on Governor Duoye Diri’s  two years anniversary were uncompleted.

“What they did was window dressing but a critical look at all the projects showed that the inside is not completed.

The APC woman leader, averred that within the period under review, there was no deliberate empowerment given to  women and widows, and that account for the urchin lifestyle of youths from one office to another, while women are grappling with the challenge of feeding in the state.

“We believe in women empowerment .APC believes in 35 % affirmation and come next general the party will encourage women to vie for House of Assembly, Federal House of Representatives and the Senate”

“The PDP administration of Governor Douye Diri christened “Prosperity Government” is an aberration because the people of the state, particularly the youths and women are faced with the challenge of feeding among other basic needs.

According to her, both the youths and the women in the state capital, Yenagoa and those forgotten at the riverine communities are disenchanted, begging and praying for the progressive (APC) to take over the reins of government from the failing PDP to liberate them from the anguish inflicted on them.

Akpobasa , said the APC is the most organized, sensitive and humane political party in the state, and they are ready to salvage the youths and women from the suffering inflicted on them by the PDP.

She was emphatic that the APC would take over all the political seats in the forthcoming elections, adding that the electorates, who are already tired of the PDP and now see the APC not just as a place of refuge, but also a reliable alternative to give their franchise (votes) to at the polls.

Akpobasa, said the party have begun campaign to the coastal fishing settlements, and they have begun the process of supporting widows and assisting women with business funds in their areas of specialization.

To this end, the APC Woman Leader submitted that unlike the PDP, the party is poised to give women and the youths opportunity to grow and contest for elective positions in the state, as the internal working of party allows for equal opportunities for gender participation in politics.
