The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has announced that the Administrative Department of its Academy in Karu, Abuja, will be named after Aminu Salisu, an Assistant Superintendent who was tragically killed on duty by a suspected internet fraudster, Joshua Ikechukwu, in Anambra on January 17.
This announcement was made by EFCC Chairman Ola Olukoyede during the 2024 Rewards and Recognition Ceremony held in Abuja on Saturday. Olukoyede vowed to ensure justice for Salisu and reiterated the commission’s commitment to honoring the sacrifices of officers who have paid the ultimate price in the line of duty.
Speaking at the event, Olukoyede said, “We will not relent in our fight against financial crimes in Nigeria. For every officer who has lost their life or been fatally injured in the line of duty, we will not forget. In honor of our gallant officer, I am directing that the administrative building of the EFCC Academy be named after Aminu Salisu.”
He further announced plans to propose a comprehensive policy to the EFCC management to recognize and support families of officers who have lost their lives or sustained severe injuries while serving the nation. He pledged unwavering support for the families of the fallen heroes, promising to stand by them in every possible way.

Olukoyede also used the occasion to celebrate EFCC staff members who were recognized for their outstanding contributions to the agency’s success in 2024. He praised their dedication to the core values of professionalism, courage, and integrity, which have positioned the EFCC as Nigeria’s leading anti-corruption agency.
“Today is a defining moment for the EFCC. We are proud of the achievements of our officers, whose dedication has enabled us to break new records in convictions and operations in 2024. This year will go down in history as the year we confiscated the single largest property and made the single largest arrests in one operation in Nigeria,” Olukoyede stated.
