A horrifying incident unfolded in Warri, Delta State, where a mother allegedly beat her 15-year-old son to death over accusations of stealing N200. The tragic event occurred on Obire Street, off Cemetery Road, leaving residents in shock and sparking widespread outrage.
Eyewitnesses, who spoke on the condition of anonymity, revealed that the boy’s eldest brother assisted their mother in the brutal assault. Efforts by concerned neighbors to intervene were futile, as the mother, described as having a hostile relationship with her community, ignored their pleas.

A resident recounted that when the boy’s condition deteriorated, the mother ran out seeking help. Despite assistance from some neighbors, the teenager was pronounced dead upon arrival at the Central Hospital in Warri. His body has since been deposited at the hospital morgue.
Sources disclosed that the boy, before his untimely death, hawked smoked fish for his mother and also worked as an apprentice in phone repairs. The mother, who had previously been evicted from another compound due to her hostile behavior, was said to have a contentious relationship with her neighbors, which may have hindered earlier intervention.
When contacted, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) of the Delta State Police Command, SP Bright Edafe, stated that no report of the incident had been filed as of the time of this publication.
The tragic event has dominated conversations in Obire and surrounding neighborhoods, with many calling for justice for the deceased. This incident highlights the dangers of unchecked domestic violence and the urgent need for community intervention to prevent such occurrences.
