President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has extended heartfelt New Year greetings to Nigerians, expressing optimism for a brighter 2025. In his annual New Year message, the President acknowledged the challenges faced in 2024 but emphasized the nation’s progress and his administration’s plans for economic stability, national unity, and inclusivity in the year ahead.

President Tinubu highlighted significant economic gains made in 2024, including a strengthening Naira, increasing foreign reserves, and record growth in the stock market, which generated trillions of naira in wealth. He attributed these developments to renewed investor confidence in Nigeria’s economy.

While acknowledging the high cost of food and essential drugs as lingering concerns, the President unveiled a bold plan to tackle inflation, reduce it from 34.6% to 15%, and provide relief to Nigerians. “With diligent work and God’s help, we will achieve this goal,” he assured.

The President announced the establishment of the National Credit Guarantee Company, set to launch operations by the second quarter of 2025. This initiative, a partnership among government institutions, the private sector, and multilateral agencies, aims to expand credit access, particularly for underserved groups like women and youth.

“This company will strengthen the confidence of the financial system, expand credit access, and drive re-industrialization, better living standards, and economic growth,” he stated.

President Tinubu reiterated his commitment to fostering national unity, urging Nigerians to look beyond political, ethnic, and religious divides. He revealed plans to launch the National Values Charter in the first quarter of 2025, which will promote shared ethical principles and inspire patriotism through a nationwide orientation campaign.

“As far-reaching as our reforms are, they can only succeed through shared common values and unconditional love for our country,” the President stressed.

The President emphasized the importance of youth inclusion in national development, announcing the commencement of a Youth Confab in early 2025. The initiative will bring together representatives of Nigeria’s diverse youth population to contribute to nation-building efforts.

President Tinubu commended state governors who have embraced the Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) initiative and adopted electric vehicles as part of Nigeria’s energy transition. He called on governors and local council chairpersons to collaborate with the federal government in harnessing emerging opportunities in agriculture, livestock, and tax reforms to drive development.

Addressing the sacrifices made by citizens over the past 19 months, the President expressed gratitude and urged continued resilience and cooperation. “Your sacrifices have not been in vain. Together, let us stay the course of nation-building. The New Year will bring us closer to the bright future we all desire,” he affirmed.
