Tiger Woods and his 15-year-old son, Charlie, delivered a sensational performance on the opening day of the PNC Championship in Orlando, tying for the lead with a remarkable 59. The duo, playing in perfect harmony, sits at 13 under par alongside Bernhard Langer and his son Jason, as well as Vijay Singh and his son Qass.

The PNC Championship, a 36-hole exhibition tournament that brings together current and former professional golfers with their family members, is renowned for its heartwarming mix of family bonding and elite-level competition. The tournament, which permits the use of golf carts, will conclude on Sunday, and all eyes are on Team Woods as they aim to clinch their first title at this event.

This marks the fifth appearance for the legendary 15-time major champion Tiger Woods and his son Charlie at the annual event. After finishing fifth last year and securing second place in 2021, the father-son duo appears poised to go all the way this time.

“It’s a scramble, so we’re trying to pull off each and every shot for each other,” said Tiger Woods, now 48. “I think we did that great pretty much the entire day. Charlie made most of the putts today.”

Charlie, showcasing maturity beyond his years, humbly credited his father for their strong performance: “I didn’t hit it great, but Dad saved me on a couple of shots, and I rolled them in.”

Tiger Woods’ return to competitive play is particularly noteworthy, given that this is his first tournament since The Open in July, where he missed the cut for the third consecutive major. Following back surgery in September, Woods acknowledged he’s not yet fully competitive but emphasized the joy of being back on the course.

“I’m not competitive right now,” Woods shared in an interview with the PGA Tour. “But I just want to be able to have the experience again.”

On a lighter note, when asked if Charlie had ever beaten him on the course, Woods admitted: “Yeah, he beat me for nine holes. He has yet to beat me for 18 holes, but that day is coming—I’m just prolonging it for as long as I possibly can.”

The buzz around Team Woods has captivated fans and headlines alike, as their bond and brilliance light up the PNC Championship. With their extraordinary start, Tiger and Charlie Woods are now strong contenders to seize the coveted title on Sunday. Stay tuned as this family duo.
