The Rivers State Government officially commissioned the rehabilitated Okocha Road and its spurs in the Rumuolumeni community, Obio/Akpor Local Government Area today, marking a significant infrastructure enhancement for the region.

Governor Sir Siminalayi Fubara presided over the commissioning event which took place at Okocha Junction, Nkpor Road, Rumuolumeni. The ceremony, held at 11:00 AM, was not just a celebration of new road infrastructure but also an acknowledgment of the government’s commitment to improving connectivity and living standards within the state.

The reconstruction of Okocha Road is part of a broader initiative by Governor Fubara’s administration to advance infrastructure and security across Rivers State. This project is designed to provide smoother access for commuters, thereby enhancing local infrastructure and stimulating economic activities in the area. The road’s rehabilitation has been highly anticipated by the community, who have been dealing with the challenges posed by the previous state of the road.

The event was attended by local dignitaries including Amb. Chijioke Ihunwo, the Chairman of Obio/Akpor Local Government Area, who was present at the commissioning. The local community expressed their gratitude towards the government for addressing this long-standing issue, noting that the improved road conditions would significantly ease transportation and boost the local economy.

This commissioning follows a series of other infrastructure projects under Governor Fubara’s administration, including the reconstruction of various internal roads and the enhancement of security facilities for national institutions like the Nigerian Airforce. The focus on infrastructure development by the state government is being widely recognized as a transformative step for Rivers State.

The completion of the Okocha Road and its spurs is a testament to the state government’s dedication to infrastructure development, with further projects lined up for commissioning in the coming days, including the Bori Internal Roads on December 17, 2024.

The community of Rumuolumeni, along with residents of Obio/Akpor LGA, now look forward to the benefits that come with better road connectivity, hoping for continued investment in their area’s infrastructure.

This development underscores the administration’s ongoing efforts to foster growth and development across Rivers State, aligning with broader goals of economic prosperity and improved quality of life for its citizens.
