Residents of the Orashi and environs in Rivers State have heaved a sigh of relief following the announcement by the police in the state that they have killed a notorious kidnap kingpin and murder suspect, Nkem ThankGod.
The late ThankGod, aged 42 and hailed from Ogbologbolo Community in Ahoada West Local Government Area of the state was accused of murdering his victims and killing security agents.
Rivers State Commissioner of Police, Mustapha Bala, announced the death of the kidnap kingpin at a media briefing at the command’s headquarters in Port Harcourt.
“This individual, a leader of the Greenlander Cult Group had been responsible for series of heinous crimes in Ahoada East and Ahoada West Local Government Areas,” Bala said.
He listed the crimes linked to the late ThankGod to include the killing of the Youth President of Okogbe Community, Mr. Christmas Ede, on December 21, 2021, multiple killings in 2024, including police officers and three civilians killed after collecting ransom.

The gang leader was also said to have orchestrated several kidnappings and extorting ransoms from family members before killing his victims as well as being involved in pipeline vandalism.
“Nkem ThankGod met his end during an intelligence-led operation while attempting another kidnapping. His gang members managed to escape with injuries and efforts are underway to apprehend them
“The Rivers State Police Command reaffirms its commitment to protecting lives and property and will continue working to dismantle criminal networks in the state,” he assured.
