Governor Sheriff Oborevwori of Delta State has warned political appointees in the state against selfish and self-centered leadership style, vowing to sanction any appointee found wanting.
The governor handed down the warning during the swearing-in of newly inaugurated boards and commissions held at the Old Government House, Asaba on Wednesday.
Gov. Oborewori stressed that it is important for the new appointees to promote transparency, accountability, and adopt the servant approach as guiding principles for the new officials.
He called on the appointees to demonstrate selfless service by focusing on the needs of the people and working collaboratively to address those needs, while urging them to create a healthy work environment, avoid conflicts, and ensure clear communication and teamwork.
“This appointment is a call to serve the good people of Delta State, not to pursue your selfish ambition or for personal aggrandisement,” the governor declared.

He reiterated his administration’s zero tolerance for misconduct or negligence, warning that any public official found wanting will face sanctions.
Speaking on behalf of the new appointees, Ochor Christopher Ochor, Chairman of the Delta State Tourism Board, expressed profound gratitude to Gov. Oborevwori for the opportunity to serve.
“On behalf of all the agencies and appointees sworn -in today, we express our profound gratitude. We are happy and prepared to serve under your more agenda as a way of fulfilling your promises to Deltans and to Nigeria at large.
“None of us here is unprepared to give our best in ensuring the success of your administration and Delta State’s progress,” he said.
Among the new appointees is Joshua Oborevwori as the chairman of the Delta State Sports Commission.
