The Delta State House of Assembly has announced a public hearing for the proposed bill to establish the Delta State College of Health Technology, Ovrode, located in Isoko North Local Government Area. The hearing is scheduled for Wednesday, December 4, 2024, at the Press Centre, Assembly Complex, Asaba, starting at 2:00 PM.
In a statement, the Chairman of the House Committee on Health, Hon. Ferguson Onwo, urged all stakeholders to actively participate in the legislative process. He specifically invited representatives from the Delta State Ministries of Health and Justice, the College of Health Technology, Ofuoma-Ughelli, civil society organizations, and other interested parties, including corporate bodies and individuals.

Onwo requested stakeholders to submit 12 copies of their memoranda to the Clerk of the Committee on Health no later than Tuesday, December 3, 2024. These documents should be sealed, marked “College of Health Technology, Ovrode”, and addressed to the Chairman of the Committee on Health.
The bill, aimed at establishing the Delta State College of Health Technology in Ovrode, was referred to the House Committee on Health on Wednesday, November 13, 2024, for further legislative scrutiny and recommendations.
The proposed institution is expected to enhance healthcare education and training in Delta State, contributing to the development of skilled health professionals. The public hearing is a significant step in the legislative process, providing stakeholders an opportunity to voice their opinions and ensure the bill meets the needs of the state’s healthcare sector.
