The Governor of Bayelsa State, Douye Diri, says that the state is in the process of setting up an independent power plant, to combat the prolonged power outage in the state due to the vandalization of the Ahoada- Yenagoa 132kvline.
Gov. Diri disclosed this on his X public handle in which he also announced that he was embarking on his annual leave.
The governor added that all activities involving the power plant and the affairs of the state will continue in top gear under the supervision of the state Deputy Governor, Lawrence Ewhrujakpo.

Also, the governor noted that the state has decided to take up the repairs of the vandalized power tower with the completion of restringing the damaged Ahoada-Yenagoa 132kv line.
Gov. Diri declared that even though the power line does not belong to the state government, his administration opted to undertake the repairs of the damaged power tower because he understands the pains the citizens of the state have been subjected to due to the persistent blackout.
He assured that once the conductor at tower 29 to 31 is replaced, the power blackout being experienced in the state will hopefully be resolved.
