The Elite Group in Bali Local Government Area of Taraba State has strongly denied allegations leveled against Veronica Alhassan, the member representing Bali 1 in the Taraba State House of Assembly.
The accusations, which claim Alhassan attempted to replace the current cashier of Bali Local Government Council with a sibling, have ignited controversy across the council and the state.
In a statement issued on Tuesday in Jalingo, the group’s chairman, Eli Tumba, dismissed the allegations as baseless and politically motivated.
“These accusations are false and are intended to tarnish the image of a dedicated public servant. We stand firmly with Hon. Veronica Alhassan,” the statement declared.
The group also clarified that the individuals behind the allegations are not members of the Elite Group.
“Because of their questionable character, arrogance, and unmerited quest for leadership, they can never be part of this noble group,” the statement read.
The Elite Group urged those making the claims to abandon what they described as “cheap blackmail” and focus on resolving financial debts from their primary election campaigns.
“Instead of fabricating stories, they should accept their electoral loss and plan for the future,” the group advised.

Contrary to claims that Bali youths have rejected the lawmaker, the group insisted that Alhassan enjoys strong support from her constituency.
“Hon. Veronica Alhassan remains popular among her constituents, and we trust her leadership to continue fostering development and progress,” they asserted.
As the 2027 elections draw closer, the group vowed to counter any propaganda or attempts to undermine the lawmaker’s constitutional duties.
“We urge detractors to engage in constructive political discourse rather than disruptive tactics. Unity and progress must remain the priority for Bali Constituency,” the statement emphasized.
The group concluded by calling on individuals allegedly trying to disrupt peace in the constituency to desist from such actions.
