The Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) has sounded the alarm over the hacking of its Chairman, Mr. Chiedu Ebie‘s, social media accounts.
In a statement released on its official X account today, Monday, November 18, the Commission revealed that cybercriminals had cloned the Chairman’s Facebook account and breached his Instagram profile. Their goal, the statement warned, appears to be using these compromised accounts to defraud unsuspecting members of the public.
“The impersonators are exploiting the NDDC’s name and logo to send out fraudulent business proposals,” stated Seledi Thompson-Wakama, the Commission’s Director of Corporate Affairs.
The NDDC strongly condemned the cyberattack, stating: “Clearly, the cloned accounts are being used to dupe members of the public and tarnish the reputation of the NDDC and its management. Security agencies have been alerted to investigate and bring the perpetrators to justice.”

The Commission also urged the public to remain vigilant, avoid transacting with unverified accounts, and report any suspicious activities.
The commission advised the general public to verify all communications from the NDDC through its official website: [nddc.gov.ng](https://nddc.gov.ng) or its verified social media handles. It also said the public should refrain from engaging with unverified individuals claiming to represent the NDDC and report fraudulent activities to the appropriate authorities immediately.
The NDDC emphasized that it would not be held responsible for any losses resulting from interactions with the scammers. It assured the public that efforts are underway to recover the hacked accounts and bring the cybercriminals to justice.
