Gov. Babagana Zulum has encouraged the residents of communities affected by insurgency to always stand and defend themselves.
The governor made the call during his four-day working tour of five Local Government Areas (LGAs) on Tuesday.
“You cannot gain victory over Boko Haram unless you as the indigenous people in the areas stand to defend yourselves.
“You have to defend yourselves and this is very important,” he said.
Zulum also called for creation of a Brigade Command in Southern Borno to fight the insecurity that has last for long in some villages around the region.

”Traditional rulers and local government chairmen in most of the places I visited, reechoed this call.
“Yes, these are the most volatile areas in the region, especially Dile, Lasa, among others where there is serious security problems.
“The necessity of security and development cannot be overemphasised. It is only when there is security that there will be development,” he said.
