She added that “The Isoko Education Summit will seek to renew our collective commitment to education and lifelong learning as a pre-eminent public good.

“First, we must develop the student ́s capacity for learning the fundamental building blocks of knowledge that we usually sum up as literacy, numeracy, and scientific thinking. These are essential to develop critical thinking and for our capacity to distinguish valid and well-supported arguments from mere opinions or – worst – from fake, invalid or unsubstantiated arguments.”

Continuing, “education is critical for the capacity to learn and re-learn through life and the skills for the changing world.”

Earlier, the chairman of Isoko South Local Government Council Hon. Friday Ovoke Warri who graced the event called on participating students from various secondary schools to focus on their education and be steadfast to become the best, stating that education is never a scam but key to a better future.

He emphasized that the debate competitions would promote educational excellence and intellectual competition among students, building their confidence and encouraging them to compete academically with peers from other regions.
