Major General Abdulsalam Abubakar, General Officer Commanding (GOC) 3 Division and Commander of Operation Safe Haven, has reaffirmed the Nigerian Army’s professionalism and ongoing dedication to national security.
At the opening of the 3 Division Operation Planning Cadre held at Gibson-Jalo Cantonment, Yola, Adamawa State, yesterday, Abubakar—represented by Brigadier General Paul Zawaya—stressed the importance of innovation and adaptability in military planning. He noted that staying ahead of potential adversaries in modern warfare requires the continuous evolution of strategies, particularly in an age where technology plays a growing role in military operations.
The cadre’s theme, focused on the roles of junior commanders in military decision-making, underscores the Nigerian Army’s efforts to strengthen the capabilities of its leadership. Abubakar urged participants to take full advantage of the training, which would prove critical in shaping the future of military operations.
The event marks a significant effort by the Nigerian Army to boost the decision-making skills of junior commanders amid Nigeria’s complex security challenges. Brigadier General AS Mormoni-Bashir (rtd), Security Adviser to the Adamawa State Governor, emphasized the crucial role of thorough operational planning for military success. He praised the cadre’s theme, noting that sharpening junior commanders’ strategic abilities would better equip them for future operations, especially in joint environments.
Mormoni-Bashir also commended the ongoing operations of the 3 Division, recognizing the vital contributions of military personnel to Nigeria’s stability, particularly in Adamawa State, where security efforts continue to produce results.
The Nigerian Army’s 3 Division is currently engaged in multiple high-stakes operations across the country, with the success of these missions largely dependent on the tactical expertise of junior commanders. The cadre event highlights the Army’s commitment to refining the skills of its officers, ensuring Nigeria remains protected against evolving threats.
The event, organized by the 3 Division leadership, also received praise for its focus on operational excellence, with participants expected to apply the knowledge gained to enhance Nigeria’s defense capabilities.
