The Chairman of Ughelli North Local Government Area, Olorogun Jaro Egbo, has presented his administration’s achievements during the first 100 days in office.
Speaking during a visit by the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Ughelli Correspondents Chapel, he stressed that he has made success in key areas such as healthcare, education, security, and infrastructure.
Egbo noted the poor condition of healthcare facilities upon assuming office, disclosing that his administration conducted an assessment of health centers, which led to the construction of an ultra-modern cottage maternity health center at the local government headquarters, equipped with state of the art facilities.
In education, Egbo emphasized his administration’s focus on improving primary education and revealed that over N25 million had been saved from internally generated revenue and allocated for providing school uniforms, notebooks, and desks for pupils.
He further revealed plans for further teacher training in collaboration with the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) were also outlined.
On security, Egbo said he had organized a zonal security meeting with neighboring local governments, to curtail the rising security challenges in the local government.
He said the result has brought about relative peace, but expressed grief over the recent murder of a Divisional Police Officer and reaffirmed his commitment to improving security.
On governance, Egbo said his administration renovated key government offices, including the chairman’s office and purchased official vehicles for senior officials, enhancing administrative efficiency.
