Borno State Governor Babagana Umara Zulum, of Borno State, in Sunday commissioned a 500-unit housing estate in Konduga local government council of the state.
The Trumpet gathered that the aim is to resettle displaced families in the local government council.
The estate which is equipped with public facilities such as schools, a primary healthcare center, and water amenities, our correspondent gathered is part of efforts to resettle families displaced by the Boko Haram insurgency.
During the commissioning ceremony held on Sunday in Konduga, the governor emphasized that the resettlement initiative marks a significant step towards the eventual closure of internally displaced persons (IDP) camps in the area.
A total of 500 families from 10 communities affected by insurgency were observed to have benefited from the new housing units.
In addition to the homes, each family received essential items including food supplies, mattresses, blankets, and cash assistance — with heads of households receiving N50,000 and wives receiving N20,000 to help restart their lives.

The resettled families hail from communities including Towuri, Modu Amsamiri, Goniri, and others that were severely impacted by Boko Haram violence.
In another developments, the governor has also directed the Ministry for Reconstruction, Rehabilitation and Resettlement to ensure the completion of an additional 500 houses in Dalwa within six months.
He also ordered the construction of 500 more housing units in Aulari, both located in Konduga local government council.
He was equally observed to have instructed the Ministry of Education, Science, Technology, and Innovation to conduct an immediate assessment of the College of Business and Administration in Konduga, which was damaged during the insurgency, to determine the extent of destruction and necessary repairs.
