Prominent human rights lawyer, Femi Falana (SAN), has firmly denied any involvement with Nigerian crossdresser Bobrisky following explosive allegations made by popular social media personality Martins Otse, known as VeryDarkMan.
In a viral video circulating online, VeryDarkMan accused unnamed EFCC officers of receiving ₦15 million from Bobrisky to dismiss money laundering charges. He further alleged that Falana sought a presidential pardon for Bobrisky in exchange for ₦10 million.
However, Falana responded to these claims during an appearance on Channels Television’s Politics Today. He categorically denied any connection to Bobrisky, revealing that while he won’t pursue criminal charges, he plans to initiate civil proceedings to protect his and his son’s reputations.
“Bobrisky never spoke to me, I have never met him,” Falana stated. “He allegedly contacted my son, Folarin (also known as Falz), asking for ₦3 million to be placed in a VIP section of the prison. My son refused and advised him to follow proper procedures.”

Falana stressed that neither he nor his children have ever negotiated on behalf of Bobrisky or anyone else in similar situations. He expressed disappointment over the false claims being spread, adding that his children typically refer those in need of legal assistance to him.
While Falana has refrained from filing a criminal complaint due to his ongoing work advocating for free speech across West Africa, he confirmed that civil action will be taken to restore their integrity.
It’s important to note that earlier this week, VeryDarkMan publicly apologized to Falana for his derogatory comments, admitting that some individuals had used the situation to unfairly target the respected lawyer. “I apologize,” VeryDarkMan said, acknowledging his error and expressing disbelief at Falana’s name being dragged into the controversy.
