In a proactive response to the repeated flood alert issued by the Nigeria Metrological Agency, NIMET, Governor of Rivers State, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, has constituted a 9-man Flood Prevention and Management Committee, with the Deputy Governor, Her Excellency, Prof. Mrs. Ngozi Nma Odu as Chairman.
Members of the Committee include Secretary to the State Government, Chief Dr. Tammy Wenike Danagogo, Honourable Commissioner for Social welfare and Rehabilitation, Chief Ilanmi Arugu, Commissioner for Chieftaincy Affairs and Community Development, Engr Charles Amadi, Commissioner for Special Duties, Dr. Sam Anya and Commissioner for Special Projects, Dr. Roland Obed Whyte.

Others are the Honourable Commissioner for Information and Communications, Warisenibo Joe Johnson; the Honourable Commissioner for Health, Dr Mrs Adaeze Chidinma Oreh; and the Honourable Commissioner for Environment, Mr Sydney Gbara.
A statement issued by the Commissioner for Information and Communication, Warisenibo Joe Johnson on Tuesday said the committee had swung into action and held its inaugural meeting on Monday, September 23, in the Deputy Governor’s office, Government House, Port Harcourt.
The statement informed that the next meeting of the Committee shall be held on Friday at 2 pm in the Deputy Governor’s office, with the CTC Chairmen of the 18 impacted LGAs in attendance.
