Manchester United have successfully secured a deal with Paris Saint-Germain to sign midfield dynamo Manuel Ugarte for an initial fee of £42.2 million, with the total potentially rising to £50.7 million (€60 million) through performance-related add-ons.
Ugarte, a top target for United throughout the transfer window, has always been keen on a move to Old Trafford. The Uruguayan midfielder is expected to arrive in the UK on Tuesday to undergo a medical and finalize personal terms.
PSG originally sought to recoup the £51.1 million (€60 million) they paid Sporting Lisbon for Ugarte last summer, but both clubs reached a compromise to ensure the deal goes through smoothly. United are reportedly pleased with the agreement.
This move comes as Scott McTominay edges closer to sealing his exit from United, with a switch to Napoli on the horizon. Ugarte’s arrival marks a significant addition to United’s midfield, just a year after PSG acquired him from Sporting Lisbon for a similar fee.
