Joel-Onowakpo Thomas, senator-elect of Delta south senatorial district, has alongside other victors on February 25th general elections, collected his certificate of return in the International Conference Centre (ICC) Abuja.
Joel-Onowakpo was presented with the certificate of return by the chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Prof Mahmood Yakubu, as demanded by the electoral law.
Recall that the Delta south senator-elect contested under the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to defeat Hon Michael Diden, his closet contender and candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) with a margin of 2,299 votes.
In his statement on Tuesday, March 7, 2023, the tax expert of international repute noted that he is overwhelmed with the confidence reposed in him by his senatorial district to be the vocal voice they truly desire in the fast-approaching tenth national assembly.

“I thank the people of Delta south, who overwhelmingly with the order of their thumbs, ensured I am privileged to be among the victors receiving this certificate of return by INEC as the senator-elect of Delta south.
“It would have been impossible without the firm convictions of men, women, and youths of my district that I am capable to represent them at the Red Chamber of the National Assembly. I owe them my debt of gratitude,” he acknowledged.
However, Joel-Onowakpo who was accompanied by his friend and CEO of Sweet Spirit Hotel, Arc Ambrose Okuhor and MD The Trumpet, Edafewotu Endurance, added that there is no victor, no vanquish as every stakeholder is important to enable him deliver extensively on his DUE manifesto to Delta south.
“I extend my hand of fellowship to my opponents to join hands with me in building a stronger and greater Delta south which is in dire need of change to judiciously reap the dividends of democracy. There is no victor, no vanquish as we all won,” Joel-Onowakpo added.
