The Nigeria Customs Service (NSC) in Katsina state, has said it generated more than N935 million from January to December last year.

The command, however, said it lost two of its officers in the course of discharging their assigned duties in the period under review.

Outgoing customs area controller, Wada Chedi stated this during a thanksgiving and send-off ceremony held in his honour at the customs office in the state.

Chedi who has been transferred to Rivers state would be handing over to a new controller, Mr Musa Nura.

He said the N935 million generated was far more than the N60.84 allocated revenue target for the command for the year 2022.

He said the command in its effort to facilitate Export Trade, recorded Free-On-Board (FOB) value of over N4.4 billion for non-oil commodities with metric tons of 69,436.77 exported through Jibia-Magama border station.

He said the command was able to record 379 arrests of which 258 were converted to seizures with a Duty Paid Value DPV of N144.7 million.

Chedi added that 10 suspects were arrested during the period under review and that some are presently being prosecuted at the federal high court while some were granted administrative bail.

He said 4,958 of the command’s officers and men were promoted to the next rank, while 13 new operational vehicles, as well as arms and ammunition, were supposed to the command last year.

He said the command held a series of sensitisation outreaches for people living at border communities, to reduce the tension that often arose when customs carry out their operations.
