Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu has approved the constitution of a visitation panel for its state-owned Rufus Giwa Polytechnic, Owo, (RUGIPO) to review the Federal Government’s policy regarding scrapping of Higher National Diploma (HND) programmes.
Governor Akeredolu in a letter by his Chief of Staff, Chief Olugbenga Ale said the visitation panel was to examine the performance of the Polytechnic’s management.
The Chief of Staff maintained that the panel would review the Polytechnic Establishment Law, and determine its future and the extent of its compliance with the recommendations of the 2017 Visitation Panel as contained in the Government White Paper.
Ale added that the panel would also examine the financial management of the polytechnic including subventions, grants, loans, and Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) as well as determine the compliance of the polytechnic with appropriate regulations.

More so, he said the panel would examine the compliance of the polytechnic with extant regulations and due process in the recruitment and deployment of staff.
He further stated that the panel would examine industrial relations amongst management, staff, and students and recommend ways to achieve lasting peace and harmony.
“The panel would examine the state of the landed property and other assets of the polytechnic, and make such other recommendations that can assist in repositioning the polytechnic for optimal performance.”
According to the statement, the panel would be chaired by Prof. Olabode Kolade Koriko with Dr Olumide Asere Ag. Permanent Secretary as the secretary.
Other members of the panel include Prof. Tomola Obamuyi, Prof. Francis Gbore, Mr Dapo Adelegan, Sir Patrick Tayo Adedapo-Aisida and Engr. David Omoregie.
