Queen Elizabeth II has passed on at Balmoral, Scotland, at the age of 96 after spending a remarkable 70-year on the throne.
The revered Queen of England, whose death has thrown the entire world into mourning, lived a fulfilled life with her demise described as a “peaceful transition”.
According to an emerging report from the royal palace, her son, Prince Charles, who is the Prince of Wales, is the next King of England and will be addressed as King Charles III.
In a statement by the Buckingham Palace spokesman, the late Queen Elizabeth was pronounced dead in the afternoon at Balmoral.
He added that the King and the Queen’s companion will return to London from Balmoral on Friday.
“The Queen died peacefully at Balmoral this afternoon,” the spokesman said.
“The King and The Queen Consort will remain at Balmoral this evening and will return to London tomorrow.”

While Britain and the world mourn and also celebrate her historic 70-year reign on the throne, which would likely not be attained no time soon by successive reigns, King Charles III lamented over the death of his beloved mother.
“The death of my beloved mother, Her Majesty The Queen, is a moment of the greatest sadness for me and all members of my family,” said King Charles III
‘We mourn profoundly the passing of a cherished sovereign and a much-loved mother. I know her loss will be deeply felt throughout the country, the Realms and the Commonwealth, and by countless people around the world.”
Furthermore, King Charles III, who assumed the throne on a historic September 8, 2022, and turns 73 in November, added that his family will be comforted by the love expressed towards the late Queen.
“During this period of mourning and change, my family and I will be comforted and sustained by our knowledge of the respect and deep affection in which the Queen was so widely held,” he added.
The death of Queen Elizabeth II opens 10 days vista of mourning by Britain and her Commonwealth realms even as the world mourns her transition.
