Head coach of Nigeria U21 men’s volleyball team, Sani Mohammed, says the Nigeria Volleyball Federation (NVBF) has done all that is required to ensure the Nigeria U21 volleyball team succeed in the Africa U21 Volleyball Championship in Tunisia.

Mohamed said the technical crew have been studying various teams in the tourney, especially the teams from the north Africa region.

According to Mohammed, other teams are scared of the Nigerian team but that will not make the Nigeria U21 volleyball squad rest on its oars as they use this avenue to prove to the world how formidable Nigerians are in volleyball.

“The team is prepared, the President of Nigeria Volleyball Federation, Engr Musa Nimrod and his board members have tried their best; it is left for the players and coaches to do their best in Tunisia,” Mohammed said.

“The technical crew have been studying the teams that will participate in the tournament because we do not sleep; other teams are wary of our current squad and development.

“We beam our searchlight on the host Tunisia and other North African Nations. They feel the U21 is their birthright but this is an opportunity to let the World know we are equally good,” he added.

The head coach, however, revealed that every team possesses varying tactics but the final results prove the better side.

“Every team has their strategy and when we meet on the court, the result will show our level of preparedness,” noted Mohammed.

Before leaving the shores of Nigeria on Friday, August 12, en route to Tunisia, the head coach of the U21 volleyball team, Sani Mohammed is upbeat that the Nigeria U21 volleyball team will qualify for the 2023 FIVB U21 Men’s World Championship.

In a press briefing, Mohammed reiterated that the technical crew has done a lot of research about their opponents from North Africa especially, the host nation Tunisia.

The volleyball coach explained that the Nigeria U21 team comprises mainly players that won the Africa U19 Nations Championship where they were exposed to play the FIVB U19 Boys Championship, adding that they aim to qualify for the FIVB U21 Men’s Volleyball Championship.

Meanwhile, the President of Nigeria Volleyball Federation (NVBF), Engr Musa Nimrod is confident the team will be successful with a podium finish in the championship.

Musa, while assuring the team of the federation’s utmost support, charged the players to aim for a podium finish before they left for Tunisia through the Nnamdi Azikiwe Airport.
