A youth coach, Mr. Joshua Abuwa has charged youths in Edo State to have a change of mindset in confronting life difficulties, charging them to engage in productive activities to engender progress in society.
Abuwa said this during a chat on KU FM in Benin, as part of the month-long activities organised to mark this year’s International Youth Day organised by the Edo State Ministry of Youth and Humanitarian Affairs.
Speaking during the live radio programme, he said “It is important for our young adults to be furnished and equipped with the right mindset for the task ahead of them as future leaders. Human capital development is far more important than physical structures. Until we build the mental capacity of our people, we can’t build excellent physical structures.”

He noted that Nigeria’s biggest problem is not lack of natural resources but leadership failure, stating, “We can’t lead others until we have led ourselves. What we need isn’t a position but a disposition, not power but to be empowered.”
He continued: “Every problem is a business. Most importantly, the youth must not be money-conscious but be result-oriented because money is a reward for solving problems.
“The foundation of leadership is integrity because when money is lost, nothing is lost; when health is lost, something is lost; when integrity is lost, everything is lost. Integrity is a constant effort to integrate your words, deeds and actions. Our youths need to start learning the very concept of loyalty and integrity.”
