Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly and Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) governorship flagbearer, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori; Prince Ned Nwoko, Delta North PDP Senatorial Candidate and Executive Director of Finance and Administration, DESOPADEC, Hon. John Nani, have lauded the choice of Dr Ifeanyi Okowa as Vice President by Alhaji Atiku Abubakar and PDP.
The PDP Presidential candidate, Alhaji Abubakar on Thursday, picked Governor Okowa of Delta State as his running mate in the 2023 general elections.
In a Press Statement by his Chief Press Secretary(CPS), Mr Dennis Otu, the Delta Speaker said he was excited about the choice Alhaji Abubakar made of his running mate, describing it as a welcome development. Rt. Hon. Oborevwori, who is also the National Deputy Chairman of the Conference of Speakers of State Legislatures of Nigeria, described Governor Okowa as a core party loyalist, political strategist and consummate politician with a deep interest in the unity and development of the country.
According to the statement: “I wish to congratulate our dynamic and visionary Governor, His Excellency, Senator Dr Ifeanyi Okowa, on his emergence as the running mate to the PDP Presidential Candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar. We are extremely happy about the choice of our hard working Governor as the running mate to our incoming President, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar.”
On his part, Prince Ned Nwoko described the occasion of Okowa’s emergence as historic. Nwoko in a statement expressed excitement with Atiku’s choice, affirming that it was a dream come through for Okowa and the entire Deltans.
The PDP stalwart described Okowa’s nomination as one that continued his already existing record breaking standing being the first Delta Governor of Anioma origin.

He eulogized Atiku Abubakar for being focused and attentive to the voice of reason in choosing Okowa as Vice Presidential candidate of the PDP. Nwoko said that the unveiling of Okowa has once again given the PDP an edge ahead of the 2023 Presidential contest, maintaining that the best among equals had emerged.
The former House of Reps member averred that Okowa possessed the charismatic qualities to garner votes for the PDP in 2023 and in the same vein, hold forth for the country as a dependable, resolute and roundly sound Vice President.
The Executive Director of Finance and Administration DESOPADEC, Chief John Obukohwo Nani, on his part, described Okowa’s nomination as a recognition of his credibility, loyalty and political capacity among the contenders for the VP slot, to assist Atiku as a running mate.
Nani, who was a Senatorial aspirant for Delta Central Senatorial District, at the recently concluded primaries of the party, described Okowa, as a political tactician laced with loyalty, humility, dedication and hard work, capable of assisting Atiku in enhancing the developmental fortunes of Nigeria, in area of security, conflict resolutions, international relations, human capital and infrastructural development, in Nigeria and the Africa sub-region at large.
