Chelsea have announced Andreas Christensen will not be part of their plans for next season having released the squad list with the defender’s name absent.
Christensen spent a decade in Stamford Bridge having signed from Danish club Brondby in 2012. He started in the English club’s youthful ranks before he was promoted to the senior team in 2015 where he was sent on loan to Bundesliga Borussia Monchengladbach for two seasons.
The defender, who established himself in the starting lineup of Thomas Tuchel’s side, finding a perfect click with Thiago Silva as defensive pair, is favoured by a deal to Barcelona. Moreover, Christensen’s contract with Chelsea has ended but the player who craves new challenges in his career blatantly refused to extend it.
During his time at the West London club, the 26-year-old Barcelona bound player made 161 appearances in Chelsea’s first team, scoring two goals in the process coupled with two assists.

Despite these two goals for Chelsea’s first team being scored in the UEFA Champions League and FA CUP tourneys respectively, his 10 years spell includes storylines of successes with UEFA Champion League, FIFA Club World Cup, Europa League, Premier League, and UEFA Cup trophies in his kitty.
Chelsea, however, have wished the defender, who is on international duty with the Denmark national team in the UEFA Nations League soccer event, “Thank you, Andreas”.
