A chieftain of the ruling All Progressives Congress(APC), in Imo State, Chief Alan B. Onyemaechi, has warned agitators who claim to be supporting the detained leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, to shun violence.
He said violent agitation would jeopardize their aspirations and complicate their leader’s treason case. Onyemaechi who spoke to the press in Owerri pointed out that persons hiding under the cover of the IPOB to unleash mayhem in the South-East had continued were only do so to complicate the treason trial of the detained Nnamdi Kanu and mess up the entire agitations of the Ndígbo for fairness, equity and justice in the Nigerian project.
He noted that since the civil war that ended in January 1970 the Igbos cannot be said to be doing badly in the Nigeria nation but declared that “the issue is that when it comes to making appointments, those in-charge of such appointments become apprehensive of giving Ndigbo their fair share in order not to surrender power to them or to re-launch them into their premiere positions because of the war.”
He expressed that, Orlu has become a theatre of violence with lives and properties belonging to APC members being destroyed daily insisting, “it is not out of place to accuse political opponents of Governor Hope Uzodinma of being responsible for this.
