  • Thousands of APC supporters marched in Damaturu under the slogan “Tinubu Must Go Again”.
  • The rally followed an October 1 protest in Potiskum where youths called for Tinubu’s removal.
  • SSG Mohammed Goje led APC stakeholders, citing the Buni administration’s partnership with the federal government.
  • Supporters also backed Baba Wali, the APC’s governorship candidate in Yobe.
  • The movement says it will mobilise grassroots support for Tinubu ahead of 2027.

The rally, organised on Saturday by the Tinubu Must Go Again Movement in collaboration with the state leadership of the APC, attracted thousands of youths and women who marched through major streets of the state capital, expressing support for the Tinubu administration and the ruling party.

Counter to Potiskum protest

The demonstration comes amid growing political activities in the state, following a protest staged by some youths in Potiskum on October 1, during Nigeria’s 66th Independence Anniversary, where demonstrators called for Tinubu’s removal over economic hardship, insecurity, unemployment and alleged poor governance.

Some of the Potiskum protesters reportedly carried flags of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), expressing dissatisfaction with the president’s Independence Day broadcast, which they said failed to address the challenges confronting Nigerians. The ADC’s campaign council has separately urged Nigerian youths to reject Tinubu’s second-term bid.

In an apparent counter-mobilisation, APC supporters in Damaturu took to the streets to demonstrate their support for Tinubu’s continued leadership and the party’s governorship candidate in the state, Baba Wali.

Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Mohammed Goje, led APC stakeholders and supporters at the rally, which was coordinated by the movement’s National Coordinator, Prof. Sherif Almuhajir, and the state Coordinator, Mukhtar Bularafa.

The procession commenced at the Damaturu flyover and ended at the Yobe State Pilgrim Commission office complex, along the Damaturu–Potiskum Road.

Participants displayed banners, posters bearing Tinubu’s image, APC flags and placards highlighting what they described as the achievements of the administration. They also chanted slogans calling for his re-election in 2027.
