Tinubu made the remarks on Saturday at the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential campaign rally in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, where he also thanked Governor Siminalayi Fubara for accepting political interventions aimed at resolving the crisis between him and Wike.

“Nyesom Wike is already a development partner”

The president described Wike as hardworking and visionary, urging the crowd to acknowledge his contributions to the country’s development despite not being a member of the ruling APC.

“Nyesom Wike is already a development partner of the Bola Tinubu administration. He is doing a wonderful job—committed, very, very hardworking. A man with vision who combines that with a mission.

“Help me thank him for his contribution to the infrastructural development of our country,” Tinubu said.

Tinubu also commended Fubara for what he described as maturity, understanding and respect for the intervention of political elders during the prolonged political crisis in Rivers State.

Addressing the governor directly, Tinubu said Fubara has demonstrated commitment to peace by accepting the intervention and maintaining stability in the state.

“When we intervened, you respected our position, you maintained peace, and you are a committed democrat. Fubara, you will not regret what you have done as long as all of us are alive,” the President stated.

The president’s remarks come amid the prolonged political tensions between Wike and his successor, Fubara, which have repeatedly threatened the political stability of Rivers State.

Tinubu also used the rally to defend his administration’s economic policies, claiming that significant progress had been made in addressing the financial difficulties inherited from previous governments.

He claimed that 27 of Nigeria’s 36 states were unable to pay civil servants’ salaries when he assumed office, adding that his administration had reversed the situation and cleared outstanding liabilities.

Appealing to Nigerian youths, Tinubu urged eligible voters to collect their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs), describing the electoral process as crucial to determining their future. His appeal comes as INEC has reported low turnout for PVC collection in some states.

“To the youth of Nigeria, this election is about you. Your future depends on this election.

“It is left for you to use the weapon you have, and that weapon is the PVC. If you have not collected yours, please go ahead and collect it. Please, I beg you, I take God beg you,” he said.

He further reiterated his administration’s commitment to youth empowerment, education and improved welfare, promising to sustain efforts towards economic growth and national development.
