Guobadia was reportedly indicted by federal prosecutors in Georgia on Tuesday on two counts of allegedly assisting in the preparation and filing of false federal tax returns.
What The Indictment Alleges
According to court documents obtained by TMZ, prosecutors allege that Guobadia provided misleading income figures in tax filings for 2021, despite knowing that his actual earnings were substantially higher.
In one of the alleged offences, prosecutors claim he declared zero taxable income in March 2021, even though his company, Simcol Petroleum Limited, reportedly recorded more than $45 million in gross sales during the same period.
The indictment further alleges that in July 2021, Guobadia reported taxable income of just $58,231, while the company generated nearly $31 million in gross sales.
Federal prosecutors contend that he knew the figures declared in the tax returns did not accurately reflect his taxable income and the company’s financial activities.
The allegations are contained in the indictment, and Guobadia has not been convicted of the charges.
Court records reportedly show that an arrest warrant has also been issued against him, although it remains unclear whether he has been taken into custody.
